Serviced Accommodation

When a hotel just won't do

Whenever any of us needs to stay away from home for any length of time, our expectations of the sort of accommodation we can expect is pretty low. We can spend vast amounts of money on hotels and, in general, be pretty disappointed; we can spend less money on guesthouses or B&Bs but be as lonely as the day seems long. These days there is an alternative.

Emma Righton spotted this fact a few years ago and started a company to solve the problem. OxfordShortlets (a division of Righton Property Limited), operating now for several years, has provided business and holiday visitors to Oxford with comfortable, fully furnished, equipped and serviced apartments or houses for anything from a week to a year. The idea that you can have, for a week, a place that, despite its temporary nature, is all yours to do with as you like; to entertain, to chill out and watch telly, in fact to treat exactly like your own home, is a new and highly satisfying thought.

The enthusiasm with which this concept was greeted in Oxford has inspired Emma to look at the expansion of her business into the rest of southern England. Encouraged by the fact that her tenants, once having tried the idea, have returned on a regular basis, and that her landlords have realised that the kind of tenants they get are reliable and respectful, she is now looking for suitable properties in Bath, Bristol, Reading and Cambridge to market through ShortletsNetwork a new division of Righton Property Limited.

The expansion of the business with the ShortletsNetwork division will take in some of the most beautiful towns and cities in the south of England, chosen for their demonstrable buy to let investment potential as well as their attractiveness to visitors. Many will be university towns where visiting academics often need short to medium term accommodation, particularly if they have come from abroad.

Emma is fully aware that in order to make this innovative concept work, the properties she markets must be of the very highest standard. She therefore offers a comprehensive advisory service to her prospective landlords to ensure her standards are met. This is not a sort of bossy, controlling kind of exercise, but rather the passing on of hard earned experience to help property owners maximise the return on their very substantial investment.

The ideal situation would be that anyone deciding to invest in a buy to let property approaches Righton Property Limited for advice, even before deciding on the property. Their experience can be invaluable in deciding on the location and style of property to buy. Subsequently they are able to offer help with the fitting out and decoration of the property to ensure the quality and standard of the accommodation. Substantial sums of money can be saved by getting it right first time. As with so many things in life, the difference between success and failure is in the detail. They also provide a comprehensive management service to make certain that those standards are maintained and that the properties retain their value.

Righton Property Limited is looking for new properties now, so they would like to hear from anyone thinking of investment in the buy to let market or looking for a new management company to look after their existing investment.
